Unsure if this was fanservise or fandisservice but there's no doubt it was。。。a wreck。 One star for Nikolai and Zoya, another for the Shu-Han plot (surprisingly)。Still waiting for Nikolai's very much deserved book。All in all, what was the reason。 Unsure if this was fanservise or fandisservice but there's no doubt it was。。。a wreck。 One star for Nikolai and Zoya, another for the Shu-Han plot (surprisingly)。Still waiting for Nikolai's very much deserved book。All in all, what was the reason。 。。。more

I never leave online reviews, but I created this account just to give this book five stars because it's been absolutely bizarre to see a bunch of admitted thieves and pirates (the book wasn't available to you yet legally, kids) viciously attack an author because they think they were owed a different narrative。 These Darkling obsessives are immature and embarrassing, and frankly should consider the effect their words might have on people they know in real life who have suffered abusive relationsh I never leave online reviews, but I created this account just to give this book five stars because it's been absolutely bizarre to see a bunch of admitted thieves and pirates (the book wasn't available to you yet legally, kids) viciously attack an author because they think they were owed a different narrative。 These Darkling obsessives are immature and embarrassing, and frankly should consider the effect their words might have on people they know in real life who have suffered abusive relationships。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 wow。 what a marvelous end (or should i say, foreseeable end), to the grishaverse。 so many things were done beautifully, and i feel extremely content with everything that happened in this final installment。 THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!! PLEASE READ WITH CAUTION!!——————————first and foremost, i am heartbroken over david, absolutely heartbroken。 WHAT WAS THE REASON?? my heart aches for genya, and the future she lost。 with this being said, i loved how nikolai, zoya, and the rest of the crew was there wow。 what a marvelous end (or should i say, foreseeable end), to the grishaverse。 so many things were done beautifully, and i feel extremely content with everything that happened in this final installment。 THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!! WESPER MOMENTS ?? i could not have asked for more。 kaz and nikolai interacting? wonderful from beginning to end。 and the tease for soc3 。。。。 captain ghafa 。。。 wow。 i am so so happy right now i can’t。ZOYA:zoya has become one of my favorite female characters of all time。 kos did a great job of showing her feelings and thoughts, her history and emotions, but this book really brought it home。 we see her broken and doubtful, just to have her come back stronger than ever。 when she turned into the dragon, i had to put my phone down to take a second。 she is an ICON, a LEGEND, the MOMENT, or dragon QUEEN and now QUEEN OF RAVKA!! SANKTA ZOYA!!! i will praise her forever。NIKOLAI & NINA:nikolai and nina were delightful to read as well。 nikolai is such a humorous protagonist, and seeing him lay down everything for his country and zoya was so rewarding。 i actually preferred nina in this book as well。 her chapters better connected to the overall plot, and i enjoyed the relationship that developed further with hanne。overall, i couldn’t have asked for more in the finale of not only a duology, but the grishaverse holistically。 while i invite soc3, i can sleep easy knowing leigh bardugo wrapped up many loose ends in this book。 i will be rerereading the zoyalai chapters, moments, and bits for quite some time。“he was hers, and that was all that mattered。” 。。。more
Daisy Hale,
I was so conflicted about this book and I really don't know how to rate this。 I loved Zoya's arc - it was brilliantly executed and I cried several times reading her scenes。 This was by far my favourite part of the book。 Nikolai's arc was good too, I didn't expect the direction leigh took with it but I really liked it。 Nina's story was amazing and her relationship with Hanne was so sweet, I'd love to read a book just about these two。 Also that twist at the end was so brutal, I cried (again)。There I was so conflicted about this book and I really don't know how to rate this。 I loved Zoya's arc - it was brilliantly executed and I cried several times reading her scenes。 This was by far my favourite part of the book。 Nikolai's arc was good too, I didn't expect the direction leigh took with it but I really liked it。 Nina's story was amazing and her relationship with Hanne was so sweet, I'd love to read a book just about these two。 Also that twist at the end was so brutal, I cried (again)。There were so many things I loved about this book, and the three main characters had very satisfying stories that all made sense for the overall plot。 Why am I conflicted then? Because this book was packed full of stuff。 It felt draining to read it。 Obviously, I knew going into this story that Leigh had set up a huge conflict for the characters to face, and part of the excitement came from wondering how it was gonna work out in their favor。 To address all the different issues that had to be solved, leigh stuffed so much stuff into this book that it was overflowing。 The book was so fast-paced because of this that you barely had time to breathe at all or to really focus on a conflict or issue that arose。 It was like a character was facing one minor problem related to the overall conflict, then spent a couple of pages dealing with that, and then it was over。 And the narrative moved onto the next thing。 Emotional scenes were still impactful, but leigh failed to spin a convincing narrative of a country in the middle of a war - because the attacks were over so quickly and the character had so much other shit to worry about that it was almost easy to forget that Fjerda was invading them - until they suddenly initiated the next attack。 (view spoiler)[ I was excited to see some cameos from Six of Crows in this book, but it did feel unnatural and forced, unfortunately。 I just can't believe that Ravka's king and commander would just leave the country to go on a mini-heist with the crows just after the Fjerdan's bombed their capital? Like what? They couldn't have sent someone less important abroad to procure materials for their weapons? (hide spoiler)] Overall, I enjoyed reading this, and Zoya's character arc is probably one of the best ones I've ever read。 I just wished the book had been longer (or split into 2 separate books, leigh did have a lot to cover to solve everything), to allow for some breathing space and to properly flesh out developments。 。。。more

I can say, without spoilers, that halfway through this one broke my heart。 But the last 50 it so pages had me grinning like a madwoman。 Also, I HATE reading battle scenes。 Seriously, I usually heavily skim those。 But I read every single word here, it was that good。 So, run, don't walk, to your nearest independent book store and pick up or order this one。 You won't be disappointed。 。。。more

I had to re-read her passages twice over because I thought I was reading about a different character and her name was just a typo。 And another thing。。。why does Alina get 'punished' for having power and abilites and have to be a nanny in an orphanage, while Mary Sue Zoya gets all the powers and is rewarded for it? Why is it bad for a female to want 'more' as Alina, but celebrated with Zoya? The point is you did your previous characters dirty in this book and they should have been left out so the focus could be others! On a leaving note, I abhor when authors attempt to 'herd' their readers to a certain way of thinking。 You think your being progressive, but your writing comes over as preachy and pushy taking the reader out of the flow of the story because it's so glaring every time you insert your own opinions and social outlook。 Maybe it would be best to let readers make up their own minds。。。most of us are adults and don't need to be lectured through narrative about what is 'good' and what is 'bad'。 I assure you, we can think for ourselves。 。。。more

This book was basically the perfect book。 I don't know why I'm still allowing Leigh Bardugo to surprise me like this, when I have read and loved literally all of her other books, but somehow she has yet again surprised me, in the absolute best possible way。 I will be the first to admit that King of Scars, while still excellent, wasn't exactly all that I had hoped it might be, especially given that it stared the one and only Nikolai Lantslov, my most favorite of all characters。 Rule of Wolves, th This book was basically the perfect book。 I don't know why I'm still allowing Leigh Bardugo to surprise me like this, when I have read and loved literally all of her other books, but somehow she has yet again surprised me, in the absolute best possible way。 I will be the first to admit that King of Scars, while still excellent, wasn't exactly all that I had hoped it might be, especially given that it stared the one and only Nikolai Lantslov, my most favorite of all characters。 Rule of Wolves, though, was everything that I had wanted King of Scars to be, and more。 I don't even know how to put into proper words why this was the case, I just know that it was。 Continually, throughout the entire 588 page book, it would catch me off guard in ways that I wasn't even remotely prepared to be caught off guard, and yet every time it just felt so right。 Really the fulfillment of that Flannery O'Connor saying, that great stories should strive to be both surprising and inevitable, because that is all that this book was。 Surprising and inevitable。 I loved every single callback to previous Grisha books, and all of the characters that they brought back for us, and all the little reunions, and ohhh, it just made my heart so happy。 I cried actual tears of excitement and joy through the last hundred pages or so。 I loved it so much, and I am so excited to see what comes next for all of these darling characters。 Thank you Leigh Bardugo for writing another spectacular novel。 You have ruined me in the best possible way。 。。。more
